Unique Custom Kitchen Cabinets

Select from Maple, Cherry, Oak and more...

Classic hardwoods make cabinets unique and eye appealing. Wood grains bring out the character in most kitchens and provide superb quality and a custom craftsmanship look along with adding longevity to your home decor. Choosing the proper wood trim to match your cabinets can also be essential to your kitchen's overall appeal.
  • Maple - Two varieties of maple exist: Hard and Soft Maple. They can vary in color from top grade white to a reddish tint. Hard Maple is a very tough hardwood that resists scratching. Maple usually has a straight grain with some curled grain and streaking. Maple accepts stain very well. Veneer maple cabinets create a great look at an excellent value.
  • Cherry - Colors range from light to dark red. Cherry is one of the softer hardwoods and isn't as resistive to scratches. It contains straight grains with some sap pockets and specks. Save money with cherry veneer.
  • Oak - Comes in red and white species with red being more popular. White is harder than red and both oaks accept stain and finish well. They make durable kitchen cabinets with stylish grain patterns. Oak is very heavy, durable and scratch resistant. Either variety of oak is a great choice for remodeling a kitchen!
  • Hickory and Poplar - Hickory is very hard and heavy and is more difficult to work, but makes for excellent cabinetry. Poplar is great for painting but not necessarily stain. Poplar is relatively cheap compared to many hardwoods.
*** Take into consideration your desired countertop color. Some marble countertops may not look appropriate with your hardwood cabinets.

Maximize your storage space

With custom cabinetry being installed, get the depth and height you would like.

Things to consider when planning your cabinet dimensions
  • Ceiling height - Use extra space on top of cabinets for adding decor.
  • Overhang - How deep do you want your cabinets?
  • Full length - Do you need six foot tall storage?
  • Lighting - Built in lighting for over range cabinets are a nice feature.
  • End cabinets - Do you want to avoid squared-off end pieces? Consider beveled cabinets for free flow.
  • Hardware - Choose the right knobs and handles to match your kitchen style.
  • Over Range - Allow 30 inches for unprotected cabinets or 24 inches for fire-protective surfaces.

Add Glass for variety, elegance and style

Sometimes too much hard wood can be overwhelming. Adding a couple of kitchen cabinets with glass panes can really make a kitchen with superb style. Keeping some of your best glassware, china and wine glasses on display creates a more open feel and creates more depth to your cabinets.

There are added drawbacks however:

  • Price
  • Cleaning
  • Loss of needed everyday storage
