Kitchen layout in white
Designed for clean and crisp lines
Design lines and contrasts
This is a typical U-turn style design with and island in the middle. Built-in accessories and spaces abound
and the contrasting blue-gray wall color with the checkered flooring creates eye catching appeal. The added decor items
are somewhat country for a more modern kitchen design and look. In the back right corner is a swinging door that leads to
a pantry.
Offset cabinets for unique style
This kitchen contains routed MDF stock cabinets with a laminate finish that were custom ordered to fit the room dimensions. The raised panel cabinets were installed
with the cabinetry above the sink set higher than the rest. The over-sink cabinet also contains built-in lighting which works much
better than a clunky fixture. On the far side of the room are glass display cabinets with an offset also. Stainless handles and drawer pulls
match the stainless appliances appropriately. Decorative cabinet molding has been added to complete to look.
Kitchen island with grill
The most obvious item on this island is the built-in grill with down draft exhausting that eliminates the need for overhead exhaust.
On the one side is a small built-in refrigerator. White metal brackets support the overhang eating are on the island. The island's countertop
is Formica as is the rest of the counters.
Flooring and Lighting
The black and white checkered floor is linoleum tiles and is a bold choice which provides a nice contrast to the cabinetry.
Recessed ambient lighting illuminates the kitchen well and has dimmer functionality. As mentioned above there's built-in lighting above the sink
which is a nice feature to the kitchen.
Appliances
Classic built in stainless steel microwave, refigerator and oven go nicely with the chekered floor and white cabinets.
- The bold contrast of the flooring choice
- The offset cabinets make a nice choice for short runs
- The tiled backsplash
- We would have chosen a decorative brace under the island countertop.
- We may have chosen some "task" lighting for the kitchen island.
- A more decorative backsplash tile.
