Kitchen storage for your favorite wines
Storing wine in your kitchen provides a unique custom appeal, but there
are several things to consider.
- Safety - If you are storing your wine in a wall based rack be sure and anchor your racks to the wall
- Temperature - Watch storage in a closet that doesnt have regulated temperature and humidity, Be careful of racking wine on a refrigerator
where vibration and temperatures can ruin wines. Consider a wine cooling unit for rooms, closets and cellars in order to regulate temperature and humidity for your favorite older wines.
- Light - Nothing will ruin wine like direct light. Avoid places where sunlight beams in on wine.
- Wood - Hardwood maple provides sturdy storage and creates character for your kitchen, closet or cellar. Staining is usually avaiable for custom finishes.
- Built in Racks - Provide a dark environment but be aware of heat buildup. Exposed racks are a nice custom feature for kitchen islands also.
If you enjoy wine and have a large kitchen with plenty of cabinets, consider built in wine storage or wall racks alongside your cabinetry.
